September 11th, 2001 -- The Scriptural Signifigance

These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace, in the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.    John 16:33

The September 11, 2001 disasters at the World Trade Center in New York City; is it possible that we can learn from this experience, see things in a new perspective, realize the accuracy with which the prophets of old prophesied against Israel? Can we see that these same prophesies can hold true to us today here in America and around the world?

I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me. My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times. Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments. Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies. Psalm 119:19-22

Yahshua says in Matthew 24:2 referring to the temple, "See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, there shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down". Can we relate this to the biggest trade city in America where 2 buildings, 110 stories high, have just been leveled to the ground?

But this is just where it begins. It is astounding how Zephaniah's prophesy relates in Zephaniah chapter one. Starting in Zephaniah 1:6... "And them that are turned back from Yahweh; and those that have not sought Yahweh, nor inquired for Him."

Vs. 7 "Hold thy peace at the presence of Yahweh: for the day of Yahweh is at hand. He hath prepared a sacrifice and hath bid His guests"   Is not the destruction of some of the tallest buildings in the world a sacrifice indeed?

Vs. 8 "I (Yahweh) will punish the Princes and the King's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel."   New York City is the Fashion Center of the US. It is from this city that our nation gets it's ideas of what's in style to wear and do. All the fashion trends in America begin in New York and quickly work their way outward. Likewise, crime does the same thing, spreading into the surrounding areas and beyond as it continues to grow each and every year.

Vs. 9 "... I will punish those who leap on the threshold, which fill their master's houses with violence and deceit."   As already mentioned, New York is the biggest crime city in the US, having more "violence and deceit" than any other city in America. When the towers were crumbling there were panic stricken people jumping to their death to the concrete below from many stories in the air.

Vs. 10 "...there shall be the noise of a cry, and a great crashing from the hills".   You can be assured that the noise during the disaster was deafening with the explosions and the crashing from the buildings crumbling 2 stories at a time like dominoes.

Vs. 11 "...for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off".    The stock market was located in these buildings.

Vs. 12 "...Their houses shall become a desolation, they shall build houses but not inhabit them..."   Imagine the billions of dollars that disappeared into piles of rubble as the twin towers crashed to the ground, taking numerous other buildings with them in the process.

Vs. 14 "The great day of Yahweh is near, it is near and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of Yahweh: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly."   This disaster happened one week before the Festival of Trumpets which celebrates the the return of Yahshua.

Vs. 15 "That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness"   Darkness, smoke and dust resulting from the attack was everywhere.

Vs. 16 "A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers".   Wall Street (the fenced cities) is the big commerce section of New York. I do not even need to say anything about the "high towers". The symbolism is unbelievable.

Vs. 17 "...They shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against Yahweh:"   People were walking for blocks and blocks after the disaster... just in a daze... trying to get away but "walking as blind men", not knowing where they were even going. "...And their blood shall be poured out as dust and their flesh as the dung." The upper portions of the buildings and the people in them were literally vaporized in the explosions when the planes hit.

Vs. 18 " Neither their silver or gold (the stock market and all the "wealth" abounding in this area) shall be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire (the explosion) of His jealousy: for He shall make even a speedy riddance of them that dwell in the land."

The damage was so bad after the attack that a section of New York City was closed. Zephaniah 3:6 says, "I have cut off the nations: their towers are desolate; I have made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant."

While all this was happening, the Department of Defense at the Pentagon was bombed as well. Once again, the words recorded in scripture ring true. "Except Yahweh build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except Yahweh keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain."   Psalm 127:1

Zephaniah 3:7 says, "I said, surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off, howsoever I punished them: but they rose up early, and corrupted all their doings. Vs. 8 Therefore wait ye upon me, sayeth Yahweh, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather all the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy. Vs. 9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of Yahweh, to serve Him with one consent".

Will this nation heed the warning or will she continue on, unafraid of the judgment? Will she humble herself or will she continue saying as President Bush already has, "No one will break the spirit of . America."? " 'Justice is mine', sayeth Yahweh, 'I will repay' ".

Until His return, may we stand firmly rooted in the true faith that we may be "blameless and harmless, the sons of Yahweh, without rebuke, among and crooked and perverse nation, among whom we shine as lights in the world" Philippians 2:15
